Nepal's Civil servants who conquered Mt Everest felicitated
Surveyor at the National Land Use Project Khim Lal Gautam, who scaled Mt Everest for the first time was among the 15 civil servants who were initially set to scale the world's tallest mountain. Six members of the expedition later abandoned their plan to scale the tallest peak of the world due to various reasons.
According to the information furnished by the government, computer engineer Shanta Kumar Maharjan, non-gazetted second-class officers duo Hari Dhakal and Gyanendra Kumar Shrestha from the Ministry of Tourism and non-gazetted first class officer at the Ministry of Information and Communications Tulsi Ram Bhandari successfully climbed Mt Everest.
Likewise, other successful Everest climbers from the civil servant team included section officer Hari Prasad Guragain, non-gazetted second class officer Subir Shrestha and officer Suryath Pokhrel at the Ministry of General Administration and computer operator at the Ministry of Education Padam Bahadur Bhandari.
A large crowd of relatives, family members and well-wishers had gathered at the felicitation programme.
